A torso emerges from black, held in cloth so wet and thin it seems poured rather than worn. The white fabric clings to ribs and collarbones, tracing the quiet architecture of the body, close, unadorned, and still.

Nothing in this image was added. It is built from depth and absence, not from paint, print or ink. What you see is drawn out of the surface itself, a presence coaxed from within rather than laid on top.

The figure appears and fades as light moves across it. Contrast shifts with the hour, with the angle of a lamp, with where you stand, so the work is never quite the same twice.

From across a room it reads as monumental and silent, a single pale form against the dark. Come closer and that stillness opens into a field of depth, fold after fold, each one holding its own small shadow.

The wrapping itself carries a second meaning. Cloth this close to skin speaks of both shelter and exposure, of something held rather than shown, a quiet dignity in what is covered and what is left bare.

Wrapped in Quiet White continues the Art with Void series by Tijs Dragtsma, in which imagery is constructed through depth and absence rather than paint or print. A visual language where absence is not emptiness, but presence.

"Some things are held more closely for being wrapped."
