Still Becoming is a contemporary artwork about identity, transformation and the version of yourself that is always just slightly ahead of where you stand.
The image does not arrive through paint or print. It emerges through removal. Controlled scratches in acrylic glass catch light at angles that shift as you move, constructing presence from disruption, form from absence. No pigment was added. The surface was taken away.
From a distance, the work reads as a composed, monumental form. Step closer and the surface reveals itself as a field of controlled marks, each one part of something larger than itself, none of them whole on their own. The image holds together only through collective restraint.
Becoming suggests movement. Still suggests pause. The title holds both at once, and the material follows. Light crosses the acrylic glass and the figure shifts between clarity and disappearance, between something recognizable and something that has not yet resolved. The piece does not capture an arrival. It holds a threshold.
There is something quietly truthful in that. The feeling of being in motion toward a self that keeps moving forward. The scratches do not document a final form. They record a direction.
Still Becoming continues the Art with Scratch series by Tijs Dragtsma, in which imagery is constructed through controlled surface damage rather than pigment or print. A visual language where damage is not destruction, but structure.
"Still here. Still moving. Still becoming."
