Sheltered in You

Sheltered in You is a work about the quiet certainty of protection, the feeling of being held without the need for words. Two abstract forms meet in flowing lines, drawn together by something that resembles gravity, an intimate closeness that asks for nothing in return.

No paint. No print. No ink. The image is not placed upon the surface but drawn from within it, formed through depth and absence alone. What appears is not added. It is uncovered.

The work lives in relation to light. A low angle draws the lines forward into contrast and clarity. Bright, even light lets them soften and settle. The embrace reveals itself differently depending on the time of day, the room and the stillness of the viewer.

From a distance, it holds itself as a single composed form. Silent. Whole. A body folded gently into another. Step closer and the image opens into a field of depth, layer within layer, each one tracing the same wordless gesture of care.

There is something ancient in the subject. Not sentiment, but structure. The way safety is communicated through proximity, through the lean of one form against another, through remaining.

Sheltered in You continues the Art with Void series by Tijs Dragtsma, in which imagery is constructed through depth and absence rather than paint or print. A visual language where absence is not emptiness, but presence.
