Folded Into You is a contemporary artwork about closeness, surrender, and the quiet power of two bodies becoming one form.
Two figures hold each other so closely that the boundary between them dissolves. Their shapes flow together into a single silhouette, lit by one soft source of light. Shadow fills the rest. Nothing is added to explain the moment. The image emerges through controlled scratches in the surface of acrylic glass, visible only where light finds them.
No paint. No print. No ink. What you see is what the material has lost.
From a distance, the composition reads as a single sculptural mass, dark and still. Move closer, and the surface reveals itself as a field of controlled surface damage, each mark catching light at its own angle. The image breathes. It shifts between presence and absence depending on where you stand and how the light falls.
The embrace depicted here is one of the quietest forms of human connection. Not performance. Not gesture. Simply two people folded into each other, as if neither could exist separately in that moment. The marks that build this image carry that same quality. They are traces of pressure, of contact, of something that changes a surface permanently.
Folded Into You continues the Art with Scratch series by Tijs Dragtsma, in which imagery is constructed through controlled surface damage rather than pigment or print. A visual language where damage is not destruction, but structure.
"Some moments do not need words. They only need to be held."
