Folded Into White Silence

Folded Into White Silence shows a face that will not settle into a single view. Profile and front are folded into one plane, sharp and pale against a black so deep it seems to have no edge. One eye is round, the other almond shaped, both quiet, both watching from a face that is somehow two faces at once.

There is something intimate in that doubling, the sense of being caught between how a person is seen and how they see themselves. The face turns without turning, present and withheld in the same breath, and the stillness of it feels less like a mask than a moment of self recognition held very still.

Nothing here is added. The likeness is built from depth and absence rather than paint, print or ink, its planes standing forward only because the dark around them has been allowed to fall away.

From across a room the work reads as monumental and silent, a single pale form suspended in black. Move closer and it opens into a field of depth, every angle catching or losing the light as the eye and the body shift.

The two eyes, one round, one almond, suggest a face examined from more than one direction at once, a portrait of a self that is never quite finished settling on who it is. It is a quiet study of identity as something folded rather than fixed, whole only when both halves are allowed to be seen together.
