Crushed by Quiet

Silence is not empty. It has mass. It settles into the body without warning and stays, pressing down on everything that tries to move or speak or breathe. Crushed by Quiet renders that invisible weight through a single motionless form, suspended in deep blackness, carrying what no word can hold.

No paint. No print. No ink. The figure emerges through controlled scratches in acrylic glass, each mark catching light at its own angle, slowly pulling presence out of what has been removed rather than added. The image was not placed here. It was revealed.

From a distance, the work reads as monumental. One still body against an abyss, the silence so thick it feels structural. Step closer, and that stillness resolves into a field of controlled surface damage, each mark responding to light differently, shifting the image between clarity and near absence as you move. The figure appears and retreats. It breathes without breathing.

That quality belongs to the subject. Silence like this is not calm. It is not chosen. It is the kind that accumulates without event, without witness, without release. The figure does not struggle. It simply holds. The tension lives not in what happens, but in what does not.
