After the Unraveling is a contemporary artwork about exhaustion, vulnerability and the silence that follows surrender.

The figure stands alone. One arm raised behind the head, the other hanging loose at his side. Eyes closed. His body holds the memory of something already past, not defeat, but release. The posture of a man who has moved through the storm and arrived, quietly, on the other side.

No paint. No ink. No print. The figure emerges through controlled scratches in acrylic glass, the light catching each mark at a different angle as the viewer moves. From across the room, a body sculpted from darkness. Up close, a surface altered by pressure and intention. The image shifts between those two readings, present in one moment, almost gone in the next.

Strength and surrender rarely share the same image. Here they do. The physique is monumental, lit like polished marble against the void. And yet the posture is open, unguarded. The vulnerability does not diminish the figure. It completes him.

The title frames the work as aftermath. The event has passed. The undoing has already happened. What remains is stillness, a body defined not by what it carries, but by what it has finally set down.

After the Unraveling continues the Art with Scratch series by Tijs Dragtsma, in which imagery is constructed through controlled surface damage rather than pigment or print. A visual language where damage is not destruction, but structure.

"After the unraveling, what remains is the shape of a man who chose to stay."
