A Beak Ascends the Dark

Out of a field of black, a single form leans into the light. A beak, long and unbroken, tapers to a point that seems almost to pierce the void around it. Above it, two hollow eyes hold no color of their own, only depth, only watching.

There is no paint here, no print, no ink. The image is built entirely from depth and controlled absence, from what has been taken away rather than added, so the mask feels less made than uncovered, as if it had always been waiting inside the dark.

Seen from across a room, it is a single monumental silhouette, still and silent. Move closer, and the surface opens into a quiet field of texture and shadow, faint stitched lines surfacing for a moment before the light shifts and they retreat again into the black.

The plague doctor's mask has always stood between the living and what threatens them, a face made to look at fear without flinching. Here it becomes something quieter, a symbol of the distance we keep, of the mask worn to survive what cannot be faced directly, of protection bought at the cost of one's own features.
