It binds and it holds, it strains and it endures, and in this work it becomes a quiet study of defiance, something worn but not broken, frayed but still whole. The theatrical light treats it like a subject worthy of a portrait, not a tool waiting to be coiled away.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eNo paint. No print. No ink. The image is scratched into the surface of the acrylic glass, built through controlled surface damage rather than anything added. Each fiber, each shadow, each grain of dust suspended in the dark exists because something was taken away, not put down.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe image is always present. Light does not create it, it sharpens it. Under direct light the scratches catch and reflect and the contrast deepens, while in softer light the same rope settles into quiet restraint. It reads differently from different angles, without ever losing the image.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eFrom across a room the coil reads as a single monumental form, heavy and self contained. Step closer and it dissolves into a field of scratches, each one deliberate, part of a surface built rather than painted.
